The Automotive Industry

With the climate change topic taking center stage globally, automotive and battery producers are under pressure to transform what and how they produce.

What’s Happening

In 2018, 86-million cars sold accounted for 9% of global greenhouse gas emissions.

Transport accounts for one-fifth of global carbon emissions, of which 45% come from passenger vehicles.

By 2070, car ownership may grow 60% which translates to more emissions that need to be addressed.

Electric vehicles are becoming more accessible – by 2030, over 23 million electric cars are projected to be sold.

What Can Be Done

Invest research into developing and manufacturing electric vehicles.

Slowly transition manufacturing lines to electric vehicles.

Transition manufacturing plants and facilities to renewable power like solar energy.

Encourage supply chain and business partners to switch to renewable energy as well.
